FIRST Lego League, FIRST Technology Challenge, FIRST Robotics Competition

  • Who

    • FLL is for elementary age students

    • FTC is for our middle school aged students

    • FRC is our high school varsity level team

  • What

    • West Des Moines Robotics program is a student led, parent guided program. Two parents per team a required to supervise the kids. We provide guidance and mentors to rotate between the different levels as well as all the necessary equipment

  • When

    • We will meet Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8p

  • Where

    • ICE Box at Valley Southwoods Freshman High School

  • How much does it cost?

    • We are asking that you and your student secure sponsorships in the following amounts

      • FLL $100

      • FTC $200

      • FRC $500


FIRST LEGO LEAGUE

  • Friendly competition is at the heart of Challenge, as teams of students ages 9-16* engage in research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering - building and programming a LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime robot that navigates the missions of a robot game. They also participate in a research project to identify and solve a relevant real-world problem.

  • Game was revealed on August 6th so teams can get started anytime.


FIRST TECHNOLOGY CHALLEGE



  • FIRST Tech Challenge students learn to think like engineers. Teams design, build, and code robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams. Robots are built from a reusable platform, powered by Android technology, and can be coded using a variety of levels of Java-based programming.

  • Game will be revealed on September 7th, so teams are forming soon.


FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION



The Ultimate Sport for the Mind

Under strict rules and limited time and resources, teams of high school students are challenged to build industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game in alliance with other teams, while also fundraising to meet their goals, designing a team “brand,” and advancing respect and appreciation for STEM within the local community.

  • Game will be revealed on January 4th, so our team is preparing NOW.
